4 March 2008:

Partnership with Living Water.
By the time you finish reading this, another child will have died from a PREVENTABLE water-related illness. One every 15 seconds. 14,000 people every day. Maybe you, like us, think that’s INSANE.

We are partnering with Living Water International (www.water.cc) to raise awareness of the issue of clean water and to encourage audiences to join in being part of the solution. We have had the privilege of working with them on well-drilling trips over the last few years, and have seen first-hand both the need and how we can all make a real difference.

If you are interested in hosting a concert to promote interest in Living Water, or need special music for a Living Water event you are planning, we would love to partner with you. Please call us at 337.322.2129 or email us at info@kevinsmithmusic.com.

24 August 2007:

iTunes.
For your digital convenience Lighter is now available on iTunes. Due to the overwhelming popularity of this cool name o’ mine, there are a few other artists calling themselves “Kevin Smith”. Please be sure you pick the right one. And after that, go ahead and buy my cd, too.

Keep in mind that buying the physical cd is usually the preferable option for several reasons: 1) higher fidelity music reproduction, 2) you get really cool artwork & liner notes to customize with your very own fingerprint smudges, and 3) we make more money that way.
Just fyi.

16 August 2007:

Online Availability.
We’re selling the new cd here, in case you missed the ubiquitous ‘Buy Now’ buttons around the site. Lighter is also now available on www.IndependentBands.com. So if you have some other music shopping to do, theirs is a great place to do it and save (relatively speaking) on your shipping costs. And, if you already have the record (and like it…that’s key) and would like to review it publicly in order to convince mass numbers of people to buy it for themselves, we highly encourage you to follow this link:

http://www.independentbands.com/cd/kevinsmith/lighter.html

and type away. We’re looking for mass numbers of people here, folks, so make it count.

For the digital purists out there, or the papyrophobic, the cd is currently in the process of being delivered to iTunes. This can sometimes take a while, so we’ll let you know when it’s available. To that end, please sign up for the email list while you’re here, or add us as a Myspace friend (myspace.com/kevinsmithmusic), or both. Thanks for being here!

26 July 2007:

Lighter.
It’s been a long time coming, but finally the cd is out. I think we all feel a little like Navin R. Johnson must have felt (“The new phone books are here! The new phone books are here!”)...only this time, hopefully, no one’s about to start shooting. Mostly, I’m just relieved that phase is finished and we can get on with whatever is next. And speaking of that: we are having a Lafayette CD Release Concert on Aug 4 at Trinity Bible Church. What’s going to be fun about this show is that the band are all guys who played a lot on the record. So ideally they will remember what they did.

The cd is available through this site for now, but will be offered at independentbands.com and iTunes in the next few weeks. We would love to see you at the concert, too, so please...ya know, come.

Saddleback.
Hey everyone. We’re playing on a daystage at Saddleback’s Worship Conference. If you happen to be there, check it out…it’s on the stage near the Children’s building, 3pm Wednesday June 27. If you are not there, please be in prayer that the cds and band show up!

15 May 2007:

SongSeeker.
We are excited to tell you that one of the songs on the record has been selected by Saddleback Church (Rick Warren, PurposeDriven) to be recorded on their SongSeeker compilation cd. This is a cd of new worship songs submitted by songwriters attending the PurposeDriven Worship Conference & Festival each year. The tune is called We Love Our Lord, and you can hear it on the myspace page (myspace.com/kevinsmithmusic). The conference is huge fun if you’ve never been. Let me know if you’re planning on going.
